Healthy Holidays with GHS
GOSHEN, Ind. -Office carry-ins, family gatherings filled with favorite holiday dishes coupled with a busy schedule of entertaining or visiting family and friends, and the idea of staying healthy through the holidays seems far too challenging! With all there is to contend with, it's easy to find the temptations too much to bear, and simply give up on healthy eating and finding time to exercise altogether during the holiday season.
But the holidays don't have to be stressful. Goshen Health System wants to help community members recognize the challenges and prepare for a successful holiday season that won't leave you feeling guilty come January.
Join Kerry Tumbleson, Clinical Dietitian with Goshen General Hospital's Center for Medical Nutrition Therapy and Katie Hrynewycz, Personal Trainer with Team Bariatrics as they arm you with a healthy holiday plan on on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Martins Supermarket in Goshen on US 33. The class will be held in the upstairs section of Martins' Side Door Deli.
Tumbleson and Hyrnewycz will lead participants in a discussion on the nutrition and fitness challenges that the holiday season brings. They'll address sensible strategies to avoid holiday pounds, how to make a healthy holiday season plan, how to exercise eveb when you are away from home and recipe tips to add flavor but not the calories to your favorite dishes.
In addition, one prepared Thanksgiving meal will be raffled and for one lucky at-home cook, a gift card to purchase everything needed for a complete Thanksgiving meal - the Turkey and all the trimmings! This event is free and open to the public.
