Emergency Department

Around the Clock
As a Level II emergency center, Goshen General Hospital's Emergency Department is open and staffed 24-hours-a-day, seven-days a week to provide area residents with high-quality emergency care.

Qualified Emergency Medical Professionals
All physicians staffing the Emergency Department are board certified in emergency medicine, something not commonly found in communities this size. Most of our physicians have been with the department for over 10 years, reflecting their commitment to providing quality emergency medicine to the community.

In addition, all nurses are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Several nurses on staff are also certified sexual assault examiners.

Using the Latest Technology
GGH's Emergency Department patients can feel comfortable knowing that they are being cared for in a state-of-the-art facility using the most recent technology. From sophisticated monitoring systems to portable imaging technology, we're well-equipped to save lives.

Rated Above Average by Patients Who Know
Our regular patient satisfaction survey of Emergency Department patients shows that GGH's Emergency Services rated above average for hospitals of comparable size in several important areas, including waiting time and likelihood of recommending GGH to others. We continuously seek to improve the service and care we provide in the Emergency Department so that we not only meet your expectations, but exceed them.

Providing a Fast, Safe Connection to Level I Trauma Care
Certain very critical cases, such as major burns and complex trauma, may require transfer to a regional trauma center for specialized care. Thanks to GGH's strong established relationships with regional centers, patient transfers proceed quickly and smoothly. Depending on the severity and distance, patients are transported via ambulance or helicopter. This provides the quickest and safest transportation of critical patients from the area.

Training Tomorrow's Emergency Professionals
GGH's Education program offers comprehensive training for emergency medical services providers, such as emergency medical technicians and paramedics. The program also includes a First Responder Course for those who may be first on the scene of an emergency, such as police officers, factory supervisors and teachers.
